A genuine heart-shaped meteorite is currently up for auction and the bidding conveniently ends on Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day 2019 is almost upon us. In fact, by the time you read this, the day may have finally arrived. Whether you love it or hate it, if you have a significant other, you are normally expected to do something for it. A card, roses, chocolates, a romantic meal for two. All of the cliched things that go along with the most romantic day of the year.
If you are one half of the kind of couple that buys gifts for one another, then as the years pass by, things can get a little tricky. The cliche gift ideas above might not cut it any longer and you need to think outside of the box. If that sounds like the situation you currently find yourself in, we may have a solution for you.
Imagine the look on your other half’s face when you hand him or her a heart-shaped rock. Wait, let us finish. This is no ordinary rock. This unique rock came all the way from space and smashed into the Earth more than 70 years ago in 1947. What’s even more impressive, as outlined by CNN, is that the meteorite would have likely split from the asteroid belt an incredible 320 million years ago.
This amazing piece of space rock could be yours. At the time of typing this, it is being auctioned by British auction house Christie’s. The auction began on February 6 and comes to an end this Thursday, so Valentine’s Day. We can’t imagine that’s a coincidence. It has been dubbed the “Heart Of Space.” The reason it is shaped in such a way is due to it splitting apart at a high altitude which resulted in it becoming more aerodynamic.
So what are you waiting for? Get on over to Christie’s website and place a bid on the Heart Of Space for the love of your life. Oh right, the price. Yeah, that might well be the catch. Auctioneers expect the unique space rock to sell for as much as $500,000. That’s a little out of our price range, even for a declaration of love.
